ABSTRACT

Covid 19 presents a great challenge and opportunity for remote working, highlighting the need for electronically-mediated leadership in team tasks and performance. What is the role of leadership in improving utilization of information communication technologies (ICTs) in teamwork? Framed within the e-leadership and project management literature and employing a longitudinal field observation method over 8 months that involves 52 subjects and 172 observations, this study finds that (1) first, strong leaders employ a consistent and high-level use of ICTs throughout the whole process of group work, especially at the planning and closing stages of a project. (2) Second, strong leaders alternate the use of various ICTs to match specific tasks at different phases of the project. Two media platforms-team discussion forum and document sharing- stand out as the most important for strong leaders to build trust and execute tasks. (3) Finally, in a project management setting with a group of transient members with clearly-defined tasks and time-sensitive responsibilities, trust-building is a continual and highly significant leadership responsibility that precedes other leadership responsibilities. Trust is built largely through alternating the use of two rich ICT media (discussion forum and instant messaging) with two lean ICT media (document sharing and presentation display). These findings highlight a significant role of e-leadership in organizations which see the emergence of ICTs especially during crises like Covid 19. ABSTRACT

The proliferation of ICT in today's world of work particularly in education has necessitated the need to assess lecturers' views of online assessment use in the covid-19 era given the disruptions in face-to-face teaching and learning process. The study adopted a mixed research design. The population for the study was 84 computer educators made up of 40 males and 44 females from the four public tertiary institutions in Enugu State, Nigeria. Three research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The instruments used for data collection were a structured questionnaire titled "Computer Educators' Perception of Use of Online Assessment” (CEPUOA) and a guided interview relating to the research questions. The internal consistency was determined using the Cronbach α reliability test which gave an index of.9. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation while the null hypotheses were tested using a t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study indicated that computer educators have a positive disposition toward the use of online assessment in conducting various assessment techniques such as tests/quizzes, semester examinations, and seminar/project evaluations. The findings of the study further showed that the utilization of online assessment techniques facilitates timely monitoring of students' progress, and the provision of immediate feedback to the learners helps in preparing students with digital skills required to function in the 21st-century workplace, among others. In view of these, it was recommended that tertiary institutions should initiate workable policies that will encourage the effective use of online assessment by lecturers. © 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the correlation between ICT utilization and computer anxiety among the program heads of a state university given the increase in ICT usage requirements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The study was carried out in a correlational survey model. All 33 faculty members designated as program heads across all courses in Eastern Samar State University colleges were involved as respondents. The data were assessed using a computer anxiety test (CARS) and a test for the level of computer utilization. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's r correlation coefficient using MS Excel and free online software calculators were used to analyze the data. The result showed that ICT utilization was generally high, and the majority of the respondents had no computer anxiety. It was found further that a moderate negative linear relationship exists between the respondents' level of computer anxiety and their level of ICT utilization. The increase in ICT utilization may suggest a decrease in computer anxiety among the respondents and therefore reject the null hypothesis. Hence, due consideration of psychological fitness to use ICT in the context of education supervision was suggested. Further study involving other members of the organization was also suggested to explore or strengthen these findings, or otherwise. © 2022 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic has made face-to-face learning unable to take place in class. Therefore, ICT from various platforms is the main choice that must be used, especially in Indonesian language learning for junior high schools. However, the efforts to improve the professionalism of Indonesian language teachers in utilizing ICT for online learning have not been carried out. This study aims to describe 1) the learning tools that utilize ICT, 2) the use of ICT in learning, and 3) the obstacles to the using of ICT in Indonesian language learning at the junior high school level in Buleleng Regency, Bali. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interview, and documentation study techniques. The data were analyzed with the principle of TPACK used in learning. The results show that 1) learning tools that utilize ICT contain components that are integrated with internet technology, 2) ICT in Indonesian language learning at the junior high school level is used to deliver assignments, explain concepts, discuss, and evaluate learning, 3) the obstacles in utilizing ICT by Indonesian language teachers, among others, students lack enthusiasm for learning, poor internet network, and some students are not skilled yet in using applications/technology. Theoretically, this study has an implication to second language learning, especially on Indonesian language using TPACK principle, both in school and higher study level. © 2022, International Journal of Information and Education Technology.
